Is this the new New Math? Cause I can get there a whole lot faster using dinosaur math than using some tic tac toe method. Is it just me, or is that just freakin' silliness?
Or........am I missing the point of this post......?
Now I have to go bang my head against the wall for some clarity.

I don't think it's just you. I used to teach Algebra I and I'm here to tell you that my students would have checked out of the explanation within the first 20 seconds! Even I had trouble hanging on until the end. IMO it only counts as a cute trick if it actually speeds up the process.
I certainly thought it was curious, but it was really quite unfamiliar to me. One of Nathan's friends came to my office once and was playing with the whiteboard doing a math problem. I'd not seen anything like it - and I thought WE were learning the new math 35 years ago - I don't know what this stuff was.
The point of the post was actually twofold - one, I am curious about math, but I'm also looking at that new Sketchcast application.

Oh wow, thanks QFB and Dewitte! I was beginning to wonder if maybe I was just estupido.
Which I know I'm not, but every once in a while a blonde root pokes through...
