Update:
Well, this is the most surreal news item I've seen lately. Since I've been keeping up with the election this year, I've seen more of Tim Russert than just about anyone else. He's on when I get up in the morning and he's still on in the evening. Now they are showing pictures of him on MSNBC and he's dead. It's crazy, I don't think MSNBC will ever seem the same.
BREAKING NEWS
WASHINGTON - Tim Russert, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and the moderator of “Meet the Press,” died Friday after being stricken at the bureau, NBC News said Friday. He was 58.
Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” program when he collapsed, the network said.
He had recently returned from Italy, where his family was celebrating the graduation of Russert’s son, Luke, from Boston College.
No further details were immediately available.
Russert was best known as host of “Meet the Press,” which he took over in December 1991. Now in its 60th year, “Meet the Press” is the longest-running program in the history of television.

I can't imagine what his family must be going through. It was so sudden after such a happy occasion. They were showing clips on NBC of him taking care of his aging father.
I loved the man and he was just someone who was such a joy to watch....so professional, so intelligent, so fair...and who loved his job more than Tim Russert?
He was so excited about this year and this election.
Sigh. Very very sad loss and you are right....MSNBC will never be the same.
