When you use clipmarks, you get a daily email of recent stories or posts that people have done. It's kind of like a blog except you don't "post" a blog entry like this, you post a news story. It's the same in that people comment on them. I "posted" something last week about Sarah Palin and had like 22 comments, which was interesting because I haven't even read the help file all that much to see how you go about replying to comments, although I see people routinely do it. Anyway, in my email list today I was looking through the various stories and I read this horrible, horrible, horrible news story and I didn't comment on it, or "pop" it (what you do there, kind of like a "this is good"), and I didn't "share" it so anyone else could see it. I wasn't going to mention it at all, but here it is 8pm and I still have remnants of it going through my head. I'll eventually forget it, but it's just one of those horrible news stories that we all get to see from time to time where we think "Damn! People are really sick!".
You know the one. It doesn't matter WHICH one, because all of you know at least one such story that's tucked away in your brain and every once in a while, like now, you are forced to remember it.
When I was a kid and had a real record player, my brother had left all these records at the house after he went off to the war in Vietnam. He was drafted, but as it turns out, he never actually went. I mean, he ended up at some air force base in Alaska, but that's a story for another time. Anyway, one record that he left was from Simon and Garfunkel and I think it gave me one of my first memories about music. There was a song on there called The 7 o'clock news/Silent Night. I think about from time to time, especially when stories like the one I read today come up. They sing Silent Night and in the background they play a 7 o'clock newscast. It's really worth listening to.
Wow! When was this a good idea?
The U.S.
state of Massachusetts is under shock after the
authorities found out that 17 teenage girls from Gloucester High School
have become pregnant at the same time.
The news is more shocking as the number is four times as
high as the year before, Principal Joseph Sullivan told Time magazine in an
article published Wednesday.
He said the girls, none over 16, made some kind of “pregnancy
pact” pledging to raise their babies together. Last October, they went to the
school clinic to get pregnancy tests and were very upset every time they found
they were not pregnant. Moreover, the girls started talking of plans for baby
showers, once they learned they were moms-to-be.

Zapeta said, "No." He wanted all his money. He'd earned it, he said.
Now, according to Gershman, the Internal Revenue Service wants access to the donated cash to cover taxes on the donations and on the money Zapeta made as a dishwasher. Zapeta admits he never paid taxes.
