San Francisco Zoo officials face tough questions today after a tiger with a history of mauling humans somehow escaped its habitat Tuesday and attacked three visitors, killing one before the animal was shot and killed by police.

"We don't know how it was able to get out, "Robert Jenkins, director of animal care at the zoo, told the San Francisco Chronicle. "The tiger should not have been able to jump (out). This is the first thing we will be investigating."

The tiger, a 4-year-old Siberian named Tatiana, was the same animal that chewed a zookeeper's arm in an attack during a public feeding demonstration a year ago, the Chronicle reported. The victim, a man thought to be in his 20s, was found near the tiger enclosure. The two men were injured at a nearby cafe, which is where police confronted the tiger -- who was standing on one of the injured men.

In a very frank conversation with the Chicago Tribune's editorial board, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff told the nation his "gut feeling" is that something Al Qaeda is afoot this summer.

A DHS cafeteria employee then rang us to fill us in on the new Homeland Security Threat Level system.

Dish washing in the Bass home means shutting off the water - a lot.  They're trying to conserve after the bill tripled since June says Michael Bass. 

"This one with water and sewage was 375.78 and then the one after that was double was 653.69 and this latest bill is 939.00," says Bass.

Bass noticed the hike after the city of Suffolk changed its billing to Hampton Roads Utility Billing Service or HRUBS.  The new bill reflects more than 12-hundred gallons per day.

No way, says Bass.  "It's 88,264 of water."

We asked Suffolk Spokesperson Dennis Craff for answers.  "Well I think we're doing something right now as a matter of fact. I think we were doing something before you called us. I think once it appeared on the air, whoa okay I'll give them a call too so I think we're getting more calls thanks to WAVY-TV. We're getting to be aware there's a bigger problem out there. We're contacting the people, I'm serious, I'm encouraging everybody to call."

The murder trial of Phil Spector ended today with the jury unable to decide if the legendary music producer had killed an actress he had known for only a few hours before her body was discovered in the foyer of his Alhambra mansion.

On its 12th day of deliberations, the jury of nine men and three women told Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler that it could not reach a verdict and was split 10 to 2. The jurors spoke in the hushed downtown Los Angeles courtroom where the shaking Spector, 67, has been on trial since the end of April.

It was the latest celebrity trial in Southern California to end without a conviction. Spector will likely be tried again.

Spector, a record producer who reached the height of his fame almost two generations ago, was charged with killing Lana Clarkson, 40, an actress and nightclub hostess who was found shot through the mouth on Feb. 3, 2003.

A married couple are divorcing after they chatted each other up on the Internet using fake names.

Sana Klaric and husband Adnan poured their hearts out to each other over their marriage troubles.

Using the names 'Sweetie' and 'Prince of Joy' in a online chatroom, the pair thought they had found a soulmate with whom to spend the rest of their lives.

It should have turned out like a real-life version of the 1979 Rupert Holmes song, Escape, where a couple meet through advert by someone 'who likes pina coladas and getting caught in the rain'.

But, unlike in the song, there was no happy ending after they turned up for a date and realised their mistake. Now the pair, from Zenica, Central Bosnia, are divorcing after accusing each other of being unfaithful.

Sana, 27, said: 'I was suddenly in love. It was amazing, we seemed to be stuck in the same kind of miserable marriages. How right that turned out to be.'

But when it dawned on her what had happened, she said: 'I felt so betrayed.'
